In the “H2Value” project, implemented with the support of the European Regional Development Fund, SIA AI Cooperation serves as a key technological partner responsible for establishing hydrogen production infrastructure in Jelgava. The company’s main role is to deliver, install, and integrate hydrogen electrolysis equipment within the “Gren Jelgava” site to produce hydrogen from renewable energy sources.
This infrastructure is a crucial prerequisite for real-world testing of hydrogen applications in public transport. It will supply fuel for a hydrogen-powered “Toyota Caetano” bus that will be operated by Jelgava’s public transport company during the project. This marks the first permanent hydrogen refueling option in the city, significantly improving testing efficiency and reducing logistics costs compared to previous trials, where refueling had to be done in Riga.
SIA AI Cooperation’s technological contribution ensures:
On-site hydrogen production in Jelgava using renewable energy sources.
SIA AI Cooperation’s technological contribution ensures:
- On-site hydrogen production in Jelgava using renewable energy sources;
- The potential to refuel up to 10 buses per day in the future, starting with a capacity designed for testing a single bus;
- A platform for collecting real-world data needed to assess technical and economic efficiency;
- The transfer of knowledge and experience beneficial for the development of similar projects in Latvia and elsewhere in Europe.
In collaboration with other project partners — including municipalities, energy companies, innovation agencies, and hydrogen associations — SIA AI Cooperation is helping to build a local, practically functioning green hydrogen value chain. This effort aligns with European climate goals and drives the region toward sustainable mobility and energy solutions.
